Heaven and Earth United
Annunciation of Holy Theotokos

- Fr. Micah Hirschy -

Each year on March 25th the Orthodox  Church celebrates a fixed Major Feast known as the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos. Today Father Micah shares with us that on this day Heaven and earth are united, when the Archangel Gabriel is sent to a young virgin whose name is Mary to announce to her she will give birth to The Savior of the world. This day is known as Evangelismos, because it is truly The Good News and the beginning of the Gospel, as The Creater becomes part of His creation. The virgin becomes the Theotokos or God Bearer which is precisely what we do as Orthodox Christians when we celebrate the Divine Liturgy and receive Holy Communion.
